In Genesis 25, we arrive at the end of Abraham’s life. The bible speaks of many heroes of the faith. However, Abraham is probably the “Mount Everest” of them all. He was not a perfect man, but he finished well. Faith and obedience were the hallmarks of his life. Here was a man who waited 25 years to have the son whom God had promised him. Yet, he did not hesitate for a moment to offer him up as a sacrifice when God commanded. As we conclude our study, please take time to read chapters 12-25 of Genesis. Take a panoramic view of this remarkable man who became the friend of God.
Ask yourself:
- What lessons can I learn from him?
- What can I apply to my life?
- Can I leave my family and friends to follow God?
- Do I have a faith that is impossible with man but only possible with God?
- Am I willing to offer the most precious thing in my life as a sacrifice to God?
- Do I believe God’s promises?
- Do I live my life, as Abraham did, in anticipation of the heavenly city whose architect and builder is God?
May the Lord help us to live our lives in faith and obedience to Him.
