Gray Areas: Judging Others, Judging Yourself

The instruction to the church as to how to deal with others with differing opinions in areas not specifically addressed in the Scripture, is very clear. We can say that how to deal with one another concerning “gray areas” is not in itself a “gray area.” Paul uses some very clear and firm language when it comes to giving instruction in how we are to deal with one another in the church. In Part One of this section, which encompasses verses 1-12, the Spirit exhorts us to “Receive One another.” He gives us four reasons as the basis for this command. We are to receive one another because 1) God received them; 2) because he will stand or fall before God alone; 3) Christ is LORD (not you); 4) Christ is judge (not you)
