Chapter 35 is one of transition, completion & endings. There’s transition from Jacob to Joseph. Jacob’s journey comes to completion as he finally gets back to Hebron. Also there 3 whose lives on earth come to their end, Deborah, Rachael and Isaac. It’s also a chapter of revival in Jacob’s life, a Word from God causes immediate revival in Jacob’s life, but also throughout his camp. This is the last full chapter that centers on Jacob, from here on Joseph will be the person at the center of the Genesis narrative. Some 14 chapters in all, easily the longest section in Genesis, which centers on one person. We look at this chapter in 3 heads,
1st pt God and His Word causes Jacob to remember where he’s from.
2nd pt God and His Word tell Jacob what to do in life.
3rd pt God and His Word tells us that He will continue to bless His people in spite of sin and death in their life.
