We can also derive an understanding of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives as we examine the word “comforter” which is from two Latin words, cum fortis. Cum means “with” and “fortis” meaning to strengthen. Together these words describe the Holy Spirit as the one who stands within you to give you strength to stand in the face of evil. What a comfort to know that all the power of God Almighty dwells within our hearts in the person of God, the Holy Spirit.
