The historical narrative of John 18:12-27 contains two simultaneous dramas. These two dramas teach us the two basic truths which are the foundation upon which all Christian doctrine is built: The glory of Christ and the sinfulness of man. In this, round 2 of Man vs. God, we find the high priest Annas pitted against Jesus, the Great and True High Priest, after the order of Melchizedek.
