In order to turn the heart affections of God’s people scattered in Asia from the cares and trials of the world toward heaven, the first epsitle of Peter focusses on four things: God’s eternal love in ages past, His mercy in regeneration, the resurrection of Christ, and the assurance of the Christian’s eternal life. Peter recognizes that the antidote to dealing with the trials of everyday life lies in the freeing confidence of Christian hope.
