Knowing God

May 01, 2005 By: Pastor William Poss Series: The Good Shepherd Scripture: John 10:14-15
I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. The mutual knowledge of Christ and his sheep is likened unto that which exists between the Father and the Son. It is a knowledge and affection so profound, so spiritual, so heavenly, so intimate, so blessed, that no other analogy was possible to do it justice. As the Good Shepherd, Jesus knows His sheep. This means that Jesus knows us in an intimate, loving, and personal way. Do you know Jesus in an intimate way? Do you know that he deals with our inner-most being? He dwells within us. Someone that is intimate reveals themselves. Do you reveal yourself to God? Are you holding onto secrets with God? The first person of the Trinity – the Father knows us as well. He is in the business of developing the attributes of the Son in our lives, which is the result of a loving relationship. Concerning your personal relationship with Him, do you know that He counts the number of hairs on your head? That He knows those that are weak and feeble, nervous and frightened, and those that are strong? Do you know that the Lord will never lose one of His sheep? This week through prayer and meditation, focus on developing your personal relationship with the Shepherd of your soul!
