Jesus speaks of a double peace: a peace left and a peace given. So in the New Testament peace is spoken of in a twofold sense. The peace with God that comes as a result of our justification (Ro 5:1), and the peace of God that is a subjective peace enjoyed because of the indwelling Holy Spirit.
