Before becoming a Christian, one runs his life as he wills, doing what he wants and going where he wishes. When one becomes a Christian though, he can no longer live as he wishes. Jesus Christ tells us in John 21:19, “Follow me.” These words John emphasize the Lordship of Christ. Following Christ requires that we repent of our sin, take up our cross daily and follow in the path of the cross. We are called to do the will of another, namely the Holy Spirit.
