Judah and Tamar

Judah goes down away from his family to live among the Canaanite’s. He befriends an Adullamite there. He also marries one from there, the daughter of Shua. One sin leads to another in Judah’s life. But amidst the sins grace prevails. Tamar’s faithfulness to Judah wins out in the end, although her actions are not commendable, her drive to have an heir for Judah’s son is. Tamar goes on to be the first of five women to be named in Jesus’ lineage. Although God’s name is not mentioned in chapter 38, he nevertheless is there. And His grace is greater than all our sins.
