Evangelism: The mission of the Church, The Mission of Us All – Mark 16:15-20

“And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'” (Mark 16:15 ESV)

Jesus commands his disciples to proclaim the gospel. In the gospel of Mark, we find this command, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (v.15and16) The disciples took this seriously: they were to go and tell all people, from all nations, to repent and believe in the Gospel.

This command was not only for the early church, or for some very gifted people from the church – this command is for all believers, in any time, from any place; all, no exceptions, from all ages, have been called to open their mouths and proclaim the gospel.

If you are a believer you must obey this commandment. It comes directly from the Lord. However, as a Christian, you should proclaim the gospel, not only because you are commanded to do so, but also because there are so many out there that need to hear the message of the gospel, repent of their sins and be saved. On the other hand, if you are saved and your heart is filled with the joy of Christ, the Holy Spirit abides in you and you enjoy glorifying and exalting God by proclaimed the Gospel.

My dear brethren, the command is to evangelize, this is the mission of the Church, this is the mission of us all. May God fill your heart with the joy of salvation, mercy for the lost and use you and His word through you, for the glory of His Name in the proclamation of the true Gospel.
