Making Void the Word

Apr 19, 2020 By: Damien Garofalo Series: The Gospel of Mark Scripture: Mark 7:1-13
This Sunday we will continue our series through the Book of Mark. In this passage, the Pharisees once again confront Jesus, this time accusing his followers of not following their man-made traditions. Jesus responds by exposing their hearts, which were full of vanity despite all the outward appearances of devotion to God through their customs. This passage teaches us that traditions and customs are often used as superficial replacements for a true devotion to God, and anytime these traditions make void God’s word, we ought to reject them. Traditions can have their place, but only God’s word is perfect and sufficient.
