Priestly ordination

We conclude what began in chapter 28 of Exodus this Sunday with the consecration of the Aaronic priesthood in chapter 29 It’s an elaborate scene starting with the preparation for their ordination in verses 1-9. Ch 29:1″Now this is what you shall do to them to consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests.” The consecration itself takes place in vs’ 10-37. It’s filled with things that seem foreign to many today but point forward to Christ, His church, and our relationship to God. The third section tells us the sacrifices are to continue perpetually 38-42. But in the last verses the Lord tells us who it is that’s behind the consecration in verses 43-46 “There I will meet with the people of Israel, and it shall be sanctified by my glory. I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar. Aaron also and his sons I will consecrate to serve me as priests. I will dwell among the people of Israel and will be their God. And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.”
