The Ancient Paths

Aug 12, 2007 By: Pastor William Poss Scripture: Jeremiah 6:16-17
In the days of the prophet Jeremiah, the people of God had lost their way, with no sense of direction. As they wandered around in the dark, they needed to get their spiritual eyes locked onto something. Jeremiah had the answer for them. “Stand at the crossroads and look, ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Jer. 6:16) Do you stand at a crossroad in your Christian life? Certainly, today’s church at large stands at the crossroads, having lost her direction. What about you? Shall you lose your direction? Listen to the call of Jeremiah, and ask for the old paths, and walk in them. You will find that only as you read, meditate, and pray your way through God’s word, that you will find your pilgrimage through this wilderness a lot simpler, as God will lead you in His way. In His word, you will find delight; you will gain understanding; you will learn the righteous way, and find direction.
