The Empty Tomb

Are you be ready to give a defense for your faith? 1 Pet 3:15 admonishes us to always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear. Peter insists that the believer must understand what he believes and why he is a Christian, and then he must be able to articulate his beliefs humbly, thoughtfully, reasonably, and biblically. Realize that it is not what makes you feel better or live better; it is not this narcissistic contemplation of the self, that is to be your defense. Your defense is to be something outside of yourself, something historical, something that has been evidenced by many witnesses. Your defense is not your experience, your defense is an empty tomb, a resurrection from the dead. You are to testify of the personal names, times, and places of these events as recorded in the pages of scripture. You are not to testify of your faith but the object of that faith, this is the defense; this is the reason for the hope. You are to testify of what Jesus did in history in rising from the dead. God himself provides all the evidences necessary for you to give a defense.
